[Erika’s workshop was] excellently designed and executed training. Erika was very tuned into her participants and the materials are very well designed for adult learning. Great workbook, ppt design and training techniques!
Your workshop was very informative and beneficial. In fact, the very minute I returned to work today, I was confronted with a situation where I was able to use what I had just learned, and I think it really helped me in dealing with this particular issue. And right away tomorrow morning I will have another meeting where I again will apply what I learned. You gave us some very good tools that can be applied in our real situations.
Erika provided communication training and effective relationship training to the board of a non-profit I serve on. As a relatively new board for a start-up nonprofit her training was crucial to ensure we got off on the right foot. During our session with Erika we discovered a wide range of communication styles, preferences, strengths and weaknesses. By the end of the session we had also creates rules of the road and standards to create a positive and effective way to communicate as a board both in person and virtually.
As a new non-profit and new board, understanding communication styles and preferences can be a big help in building a productive team. Erika volunteered to facilitate a group session to increase our awareness and improve our team work. She masterfully guided us in seeing ourselves and each other through non-judgmental productive conversation. She was full of enthusiasm, insight, and empathy that is so needed when a new group is establishing trust and boundaries.
Erika is a high energy, engaging and thought provoking speaker.
As a lunch keynote speaker at the UIC HR Academy, Erika had the tough job of engaging an audience that was more focused on food than professional development. She addressed the challenge head-on. Not only did Erika deliver a message that motivated individuals to participate in meaningful information exchange, she also inspired audience to learn more about the benefits of a brain-friendly workplace.
It is obvious that she is a master teacher and trainer, and remains on the cutting edge of research to help her clients form optimal working relationships. Her enthusiasm is infectious and her manner makes it easy to work with her and learn from her.
She was extremely knowledgeable and helped us build better working relationships by teaching us about different communication styles, preferences, as well as our individual strengths and weaknesses. She showed us how to build upon our individual strengths in order to become an even more effective board.
Erika makes what could potentially be a very technical/scientific topic into a relatable and realistic subject, using real world examples.
We found Dr. Garms to be an excellent, thoughtful speaker with really good practical material. Attendees commented on her thoughtfulness and the many useful ideas they gained from her talk. Some have already requested that we bring her back to a future event!
We consistently receive rave reviews from participants in Erika’s programs. She engages the audience, shares deep expertise, keeps the session lively, and always has people wanting to connect after the event.
I’ve been planning an important meeting with stakeholders and will be changing my approach to leading that meeting based on the concepts Erika shared.
This was the best session I’ve gone to in years.
She was so creative in her presentation. We all learned a great deal. Her presence was just plain delightful.
Thanks again, Erika – it was very useful stuff this morning and things I can both incorporate immediately and/or look at long term.
It struck me as an ahh-haaa how micro-interactions can help allay threats to status and uncertainty. Others left with their own ah-haas, which is what made the session so valuable.
A fresh and energizing perspective on interpersonal relations in the workplace; a valuable recognition of the communication barriers that naturally exist between employees of different levels in the organizational hierarchy; action-oriented learning in that I left the session with ideas for changing my own behaviors based on what I learned.
Fabulous session about setting employee expectations, developing team and individual work plans.
Learning about how the brain works was the most helpful learning experience.
Very good—I would attend another 2-3 hours on this topic.
Spirited—great sense of humor— easy to stay attentive!
Great tips to use every day! She was really knowledgeable and a great presenter!
Love, love, love this presentation. I wish we had another hour to hear more from Dr. Garms. Excellent job. Can’t wait to read her book.
Wonderful! Dr. Garms was a very engaging speaker and the subject matter was fascinating!
Speaker was sensational!…connection, appreciation, key messages, and delivery.
We received many comments of those who attended that they really enjoyed hearing you speak about ‘Riding the Waves of Change.’ Your information will help us cope with challenges in the workplace and live gracefully with transition.
Thank you again for the wonderful information and presentation yesterday on “Your Brain on Change”. I learned so much but the one nugget that will be my mantra for a very long time is “living gracefully with transition” will be my goal! The world of healthcare is ever-changing and evolving and to resist this is to set one up to be in a continued state of stress!
